First Kathak Dance Class 4 February 2008

February 4, 2008 · 1 Comment

I had a wonderful time dancing the night away at John’s 60th Birthday party at the beginning of December, at the Swinburne Staff Christmas Party, a week later, including a twirl with the VC TAFE and at Anna’s 4oth Birthday Party, that I decided to incorporate a Dance Class into my exercise regime this year. I needed to find a form of dance that did not require a partner. I happened to see an ad for Bollywood dance in the City Weekly, not only did it fit the bill WRT no partner necessary but I might gain some “Brownie Points” from the Indian students @ the Wantirna Campus, who are mightly impressed that I love Bollywood movies.

The first class was great fun and an excellent workout. My calves and wrists are aching from the unfamilar moves, I will have to do bulk stretching in the shower, pity my masseur is not here to get the knots out! The teacher was pleased with the way I picked up the choreography, it helps to have done ballet in primary school and GreekFolk Dancing @ uni. Mind you the full length, full wall mirror in the dance studio is a challenge for a large woman.
